Hi, I would have a freature suggestion. Would be possible to view and select faces/charts by vertex color? I work in game industry and we use vertex color for material identification. This would be really helper as I would be able to quickly select charts by their vertex color (material applied on them) and grouping/pacing by face/vertex color would be also awesome Attachments:

Hi
You can already select by material ID using "Select->Show File Polygroup..." or "Select->Show Model Group...".
The materials can be seen as well by switching to Mat ID (see the lowest pane).
Best

Hi, thanks for your answer. Nice feature i didnt know about. :-) But problem is we dont use material IDs for selection (as we use only one texture for all materials applied) but vertex/face color instead.

Can you be more specific when talking about vertex color?
Where this information is stored?
OBJ files allows only material IDs/smoothing Group/ polygroups / objects
I don't see where this vertex color is stored

I think vertex color can be stored only in FBX, not OBJ.

Yes, I worked recently on the FBX SDK and I saw that. It is now in the TODO

I think vertex color can be stored only in FBX, not OBJ. ZBrush actually saves vertex color (polypaint) in OBJ. So does 3D-Coat (ptex). Those OBJ are compatible with Keyshot, Sketchfab and probably others I don't know of. It's a slightly modified .OBJ made by pixologic in order to export the polypaint info.
