Hello there,
I´m new here, so please excuse my question if it has been solved earlier, but my search attempts haven´t been successfull.
My issue with FBX file is that everytime when I try to import the mesh file it makes the app crash. It´s a complex mesh generated from Rhino NURBS surfaces.
So, I´ve made a simple test box instead.
It imports into AutoCAD, it imports into Blender, and it imports into FBX Review too. But I can´t load it into Rizom UV.
I can re-save FBX file using Blender and then it works, but I´d like to avoid this step if possible.
Here is the box in Blender ...
Here it is in FBX review ...
The box FBX file is attached. Could you please tell me where the problem is? Is there anything missing or wrong within the definition? Do you get the same crash?
Thank you very much for help.
Paul

I can't import your FBX file. I think this is a bug. Try to export your mesh in OBJ instead and than convert in FBX later.
Hope this helps

Hope this helps Hello, thank you for your reply, but this is a one more step I´m trying to avoid. As I wrote before, I can simply import & export FBX using Blender, but I´d like to go direct way. OBJ format works well, but for future use I need to define FBX and I see no way how to outsource UVs into FBX file. Is there such possibility? I mean - produce UVs using OBJ file, export them and apply those UVs definition in FBX file? Even I presume the same mesh topology, I don´t think it would be possible, sounds like sci-fi. Thank you very much for additional thoughts. Paul

OK, now I figured out that I can open OBJ and when finished, save mesh and UVs as FBX. But that does help for static meshes only, OBJ doesn´t support animations and there is a risk of loss of UVs if I try to modify FBX further by adding takes.
??

It's possibile, when I want to apply a UV Mapping to another identical mesh I use Rhinoceros, you can run the command ApplyCustomMapping choosing the source mesh and the destination mesh. But in your case I think it's better to animate your .FBX mesh only when you completed the modelling and UV mapping in the .OBJ. In the meanwhile you can open a bug report in the right section of this forum. Hope this helps, Cheers

I saw that the file contains an unsupported mapping mode: FbxGeometryElement::eByControlPoint
You may change the point description mode. Are you exporting nurbs ?

I too have this issue. tried with FBX, OBJ, with and without 'load with uv' and even did a geo cleanup in Maya to try wring out any dodgy geo. I'm trialing the software seeing if I should buy it but can't use is so far. Please help
