The pain in the ass comes when U have 100+ overlapped islands (and U want them to stay overlapped in result) and Uve got to select each of them individually to include them in a pack. As U know if I put them (100+ islands in my case) in one stack group, it preserves actual space between them wich makes packing with tons of wasted space.
It would be nice to have there button "put each island in selection to its group". Im not a scripter but I guess a script could aslo solve this.
Thanks for response
Johny

Hi Johny
Do you think it is a bug or a feature request?
If you could make us a screenshot it would help because I am not sure to understand the problem.
Best

Its rather bug. Because normal uv islands (the ones that dont share same uv space) pack together in one group perfect. Not sure if picture explains it better.... i.imgur.com/V0wrBvo.pngOn the picture are 4 groups marked as stacked so packer dont separate them and leaves them to share same uvspace. Problem is that space between UV islands within the group selected stays so after packing there is plenty wasted space. The solution is to group EACH ISLAND (100 islands and more in my case) and mark all the groups as stacked and then it works fine, but you dont have any control of shape u want them to place in and it takes pretty much time to create 100+ groups. Hopefully its more understandable, sry for my english. Johny

Understood.
A solution would be to consider that if two (or more) island overlap, then they should be considered tied to each other (no need to make a group) in that case.
What do you think of it ?

That sounds like ideal solution. Actually app called IPACKTHAT works like this. There is no need to group overlapped uvs in order to stay on each other during packing. If they overlapping, it packs them overlapping. Simple as that. Anyway, IPACKTHAT is packer only and its far from perfect in comparison to RIZOM. Actually I dont know of any program that is currently that far as RIZOM regarding all the features, U did great job thats for sure.

Hello Johny
I am afraid you'll have to wait for this because it is not easy to implement and we did a poll feature request recently that ended with another feature.
Sorry for that. But be sure the feature you ask will be addressed since you are not the first person that ask for it.
Thank you for your understanding
