Hi Remi, like I mentioned on the Discord I'd like a better outliner to select meshes, groups or materials. Currently the Objects / Materials / OBJ Groups / Smoothing Groups Tool works to a certain degree, but groups aren't handled well. The name of the group is seen, but having loads of mesh items makes it disorienting to use. The window itself is fine, it's just the visual representation of groups and meshes I'd like to Here's my wishes for it: - The Outliner should let you see groups like a tree which can be folded/unfolded (like in Maya, Modo etc).
- You should be able to select an entire group, and then isolate all mesh items contained within this group
- You should be able to do multiselection with SHIFT / CTRL
- Option to dock the outliner to one side or the other. It could be floating by default, but the option to dock would be nice too.

Thanks for this !
As I said, it is not straightforward, so you'll have to wait a bit for this, but I am conscious that it is necessary to implement this ASAP.

I'm fine with that. Take your time, do a thorough job with it. I just thought it should be here in writing so it's not lost in the chat on Discord. Did not mean to nag

Another feature request: assign colors to mesh items and groups. This way it can be easier to follow up what's been unfolded, what's left to do, what mesh items should be packed in the same UV tile etc.

Another thing I think would go under an improved outliner: When you have a mesh item which obviously could or should have been separated into their own mesh items , it would be handy to be able to hide all other mesh items (like you can in Maya. And in Modo with the eye icon). The workflow I have is I unwrap a part, then hide it so I know what's left to do within the mesh item. With the way 2018.0.xx works now, I select an item, press I to isolate, then H to hide parts within that mesh item. But in order to show the entire mesh item again to pack the islands, I press Y to show all, and then select the item again. When you have tens, if not hundreds of mesh items, this can be an annoying few extra steps. I'm not sure if I explained this well (being a parent to a 4 month old can be challenging. ), so please ask if it's not clear. I could show how I'd do UV's in Modo where I hide all others, take part by part, hide, and thenfinally unhide all within the mesh item for packing. Example of what one single mesh item sometimes can contain. Unhiding all parts within this mesh item only before packing would be great vs unhiding all other mesh items too
