In all primitive selection mode (point/edge/polygon/island), key D + Mouse button + drag will allow you to transform the island which is under the mouse pointer. But it is not possible to *select* island when you are in other selection mode than island selection mode.
Key 'I' isolate the island which is under the mouse pointer. Key 'H' will hide the island which is under the mouse pointer. key 'Y' will unisolate all hidden islands. However if you want to isolate/hide several islands at a time, you have to switch to "island" selection mode, select the islands, then press key 'I' or 'H'.
Is it answer to your needs ? Or if not, can you detail a bit more what you written ?
I would like to use CTRL-I to 'Isolate Closed Islands'. This is very handy for finding small islands that are not yet flattened. So, what I would normally do is Isolate Closed Islands, Pack (to make them big) and then flatten all remaining closed islands before packing everything again.
It would be nice to have a hotkey for this since I kinda use this a lot.
thanks! Happy to know that you use that feature, I was not sure that people would use it.
Currently Ctrl-I is binded to show mesh information. But I am pretty sure that it would be better that I bind it to Isolate Closed Islands.
Indeed! I use this feature a lot! It's super useful because I don't always know where the small closed islands are. So, if I can isolate them and pack them (make them big), I can take care of all of the loose ends.
Thanks! Looking forward to the new shortcut!
By the way, I really like this program! I wish I could change 'rotate island' to Spacebar + LMB instead of RMB, since I rotate more than I scale. Maybe sometime there will be customizable hotkeys eh?
