Hello, I have a standard cube that I want to unfold only 2 faces from, since i only need texture on those 2 faces. The faces are next to each other. Is this possible in Unfold3D RS? I use a .obj-file that I converted from an .stl file in blender cheers

Hi Nicole,
There is many ways to this, but if you want to Unfold only two faces of a cube, you need to:
1- Select some edges. You have to select only edges that border the face you want to be unwrapped. 2- Cut the edges, by pressing the key "C" 3- Click on unfold (key "U") 4- Press Pack, key "P"
I think you will be close to want you are looking for.

Hi Remi,
thanks for the reply, I tried it. it does unfold the 2 faces, but also keeps the 3D-geometrie in the UV-field, which I don't want. I just want to see the 2 unfolded faces in my UV-field, since I need only this for my export. If I unfold again it unfolds everything. This is not what I want either.
I don't know how to upload a jpg from my computer to show you what I mean.
Is there a way to just get the faces I want to unfold in my UV-space?

Hi Nicole
You may simply move the rest of the geometry out of the UV square:
1- Change the primitive mode to island (press 'F4') 2- Left click on the rest of the geometry 3- Press the TAB key and drag the rest of the geometry away. (to "drag", you have to left click inside the red rectangle while moving the mouse)

So there is no way to delete that part of the geometrie out of the UV-space? Because I need to export the UV-map as obj-file, with only the part I want to texture for my machine programming. And when its still in the UV space it will export with vt-coördinates I assume?

Hello Nicole
In OBJ files, a 3D polygon has always its mirror in UV space. That implies that if you want to delete some polygons in UV space, you have to delete them in 3D space using your a 3D modeling software.
Unless you need the full mesh while doing your UVs, you may first delete the unnecessary polygons in your 3D modeling software, then import the rest of the mesh into Unfold3D, unwrap the polygons, then export it as OBJ file.
best regards
