Having used polygonal lasso brush setting in 3D coat for selections, it could be worth adding some UX improvements to Unfold3D's?
Double click to close loop(don't need to move mouse to highlighted box from start of lasso, it'll draw the line from current point to the start to close it. Enter key also did this. Backspace key allowed you to remove the current point(step backwards/undo click), good if you accidentally click. Escape key let you cancel the selection(seems like you have to complete selection currently, then undo)
In addition to that, the polygonal lasso in 3D coat had the option of snapping to the surface of the mesh, allowing you to rotate around, when selection was complete it would then project the lasso.

It's done, and will be in the next release.
It wasn't possible to link keys to the feature, so I used mouse buttons : RMB to add point, DRMB to finish, RMB to cancel, MMB to remove last point
Thanks !

I'm guessing the D means double click? Unfortunate keyboard keys can't be used as they're familiar to other software with this feature. I'm not sure if I'll get to try it out with my current employer in time, I'll look forward to in future though

Yes, LMB for add point, thanks! And yes also D means "double click". Currently all this is available only in the development version. You'll find also the Polygon Magic Wand selection tool in the development version
