could we make it so that uf3d can automatically set the UDIM tiles viewport display num U & num V depending on if there are uvs present in that tile? if i work on multi-tile object, close and reopen the file, it sets the display back to 1 U 1 V and i have to manually set it again everytime.

Yes, that would be a good option. Note that if you save the file in OBJ file format and load it again, the UDims are kept. It is currently not working with FBX for now.

For fbx, could add option to read uv space? My own tool does this checking if uv triangles are in increments of 0.0-1.0 squares so I can tell how many udim the file has and roughly what belong to each udim. Easy feature to make that doesn't require user to reset udims fom 1 tile to correct amount.

You mean to add tiles where there is some UV island present.
Yes we could a button in the UV tile panel.
Or better: a check option in the file loader panel.
