Hi Remi, sorry I have not been active for a while or sent any test meshes yet for feature requests to help you test. Have been so busy.
I have a big mesh of 2 million triangles mostly connected cube like or roughly planar shapes. There is some denser areas with some fine details and sharp angles. One particular area autoseams really have trouble with no matter what mode I try or island settings on mosaic, the ignore small details I enabled to 0.9 and 1 but still it seems to decide make many seams in these small areas..
It would be nice if can control a radius or some other metric for uv island size. Perhaps can be a filter or postprocess I can run when making seams or even on existing cut islands that can weld together small islands to bigger neighbouring ones?
Perhaps I need to investigate settings some more, but autoseams often fail to Target the big cube like edges, it gets some of them but for some reason favours make cuts in smaller details instead of these bigger broader volumes where obvious seam would be desired.
I use 3d coat automap uv feature, it could detect the broad shapes very well and get all the desired edges. It also made many small islands in small noisy area of mesh. Uses cluster algorithm I think, but doesn't have ability to set min cluster size.
