Not fond a way to do planar mapping (planar unfold) on parts of the geometry

Hi Albert,
When you say "planar", can you confirm that you want to be able to project using a given direction (like projecting using normal's of the planes XY, YZ, ZX, or using a custom direction picked from a polygon ?).
If yes there is no way to do it for now. But we want to introduce classic projections like this one and also cylindrical and spherical ones.
Any comments on this are welcomed.

Project by walk surface and find average normals to identify planar like surfaces would be good? Just needs setting that would ignore small bumps, dents, cracks, crevices but not ignore the larger edges along island boundaries found, like a wall or ceiling(surface may not be square or have connected shapes extruded from it like pillars).
