Hey, Unfold3D community! Unfold is an incredible piece of software and I reeeeally wanted to use it with blender efficiently. So I learned Python over the weekend to build my first addon. Currently, the addon is automatic in the sense that you set up the options beforehand inside of Blender and hit the "Auto Unfold!" button that sends it off to unfold to be auto seamed, cut, unfolded, and packed! A few seconds later the model is reimported and the UVs and transferred back to the original model! Please feel free to give any feedback! As mentioned I'm super new to Python, and I'm eager to learn more tips and tricks for improving the addon!
Enjoy! And thanks for the excellent software!
P.S I'm currently working on getting more of the settings into Blender so you have more control over the automatic process! I also have plans for two buttons (Link, Import) so you can do the manual stuff in unfolding for more quality unwrapping ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Download: --> B2Unfold <-- How to install: - Download zip from Github - Blender -> File -> User Preferences - Add-ons -> Install Add-on from File... - Select the downloaded zip - Set the path to the Unfold3D exe/.app in the preferences of the addon - Save User Settings - Enjoy! You'll find the options under the Tool Shelf (T) -------------------------------------------------------------------------

That is completely awesome!
Many thanks Erik!
I am not a blender super user so I may say bullshits, but you may check if there is way to import UV data without loosing data that the object could already have. It is common that users want to create UVs on objects that already have some properties applied (materials, weight maps etc...). Re-importing a brand new object would erase these data. I may be wrong but I think Tit Lavrov, the 3DSMAX 2 Unfold3D Bridge creator, import brand new objects from Unfold3D then transfer UV data from that imported object that contains UVs to the original one, in order to keep other associated data. There may be other methods to reach the same goal, I say that just like that.
Whatever, another big thanks for this!

Rémi That is exactly what I'm doing I'm exporting the mesh as a clean OBJ file into Unfold3D and after the auto unwrapping is done, I reimport it and transfer those UVs back to the original mesh so you don't lose any of the original data like amateurs, weights, vertex colors etc I've started working on the next update with more focus on the manual options for the bridge. Users will have the ability to send the object over and use the tools provided by Unfold3d for a cleaner unwrap and packing. They can then after saving, click an import button that will bring back the object and transfer the UVs back to the original

That's perfect Erik. At you signal, and if you think the script is enough stable, and also if you want it, we will update our bridge page on our website and add a link to your github.

That's perfect Erik. At you signal, and if you think the script is enough stable, and also if you want it, we will update our bridge page on our website and add a link to your github. Release version 1.0 is out! Here is the Link you can use for the bridge page: gum.co/YaKjyAlso my Github will still be available for cutting-edge builds The latest version contains these fixes and features: - Added manual settings (manual use of Unfold3D for cleaner unwraps). - Users can now bridge existing UV from the model over to Unfold3D with the manual option. - Added Map resolution control. - Added UV shell spacing control. - Added Margin control for UDIM workflows. - Added prevent options when unfolding (Triangle flips, holes, overlaps). - Added support for multiple object exporting. - Fixed restoring name of the original objects after comparison check. - Fixed minors bug with automation options. - Code cleanup, better performance.

Hello, as I understand, I need to know Python to create Modo -- Unfold3D Bridge, right? Any suggestions on where to start? Do I need to learn basics first and then jump into particular thing?

Vladimir, that is great! I am not a Modo user, and I don't know its Python API. But I can obviously help you if on the Unfold3D side with its LUA scripting feature. On that side, I advise you to try some actions (like Load and Save and look what it is written in the Command Log (press 'L' to see the it). You may have a look at this post to have some additionnal info on that subject.

Hi Erik, We did an update of the bridge page. If there is something wrong please tell me. Also, I think that it would be awesome if you would make a video of the bridge in action. We would add it in our youtube channel All the best !
