When working with many UDIM tiles and lots of islands with some manual unwrap, I found the movement controls quite limiting, but UDIM tile moving was a nice one. It would be great to have mouse control like in Autodesk Maya viewport or Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator. shortcut keys or universal manipulator/gadget is helpful, but even just going to the menu to select a move island mode(maybe an F key) where I can click and drag to move the island around with mouse or rotate/scale would be great! Use case, I have had many shells from some manual cuts that were overlapping, then to work on them I'd need to select each one at a time and move them(depending on scale, I might have to call move direction many times to separate it from other islands) before starting welding. I guess I could try put them into a group and use pack, followed by shifting out of UDIM tile space to work on, or isolating(usually I'm already isolated and don't want to lose the other isolated islands, temporary group might work well for that too..). Not a solution for rotate/scale control though

kwhali,
I am not sure, but did you know that you can translate/scale/rotate the selection using SPACE key + LMB/MMB/RMB + mouse drag?
And in all primitive selection mode you can translate/scale/rotate the island which is under the mouse using 'D' key + LMB/MMB/RMB + mouse drag?
Is it answering to your need ?

No I did not know this sorry. I had seen the mention of th D key combination in the sidebar shortcuts, but I remember trying it and nothing happening. I will give it another try, if still a problem I will submit it as a bug. If there is a gadget/gizmo like Maya or MeshMixer have for transforms, that'd be a nice menu item. I was only aware of the translate shortcuts(arrow key, ctrl+/shift+ arrow key) which I discovered from menu.
