When I group islands, I see a group number, an 'X', the word 'islands' and then a number like 1.25 What do these symbols denote? Also I have a file where 'p' will not pack properly - the groups remain overlapped with the other islands (attached file). Attachments:filewillnotpack.obj (74.81 KB)

When I group islands, I see a group number, an 'X', the word 'islands' and then a number like 1.25 What do these symbols denote? Also I have a file where 'p' will not pack properly - the groups remain overlapped with the other islands (attached file). Hi Chrisell The packing feature is very advanced and contains many options. The thing you have to know is that Tiles / Groups boxes and even island can have their own settings, that you can change using the "Pack settings" panel. If you click on the group number, the group box will be selected, you can then change the group box's properties using the "Pack Settings" panel. If you click on the 'X' of the group, the group box will be unselected. If you click on the "Islands" of the group box, the islands of that are contained into the group will be selected. Remark: you can select all islands of the group by double clicking on a islands (in Island selection mode only). You can then easily transform (rot/scal/move) all islands of the grouo at a time, or change the islands pack properties of all islands of the group at a time. The 1.25 on the upper right corner of group boxes is the ratio (width/height) of the group boxe. If you drag that number you will change the group boxe shape. Then if you pack again the islands that are inside the group you will see that the ratio of the group shape will be kept. To do that follow that sequence: 1 change the group box shape by dragging it 2 double click on one island of the group 3 press key 'P' About the problem of overlapped, did you tried to set thr group box in "bounding box" mode ? To do that, select tje group box by clicking on the group number, then in the "Packing settings" panel switch to "bounding box", then deselect the group box, the repack. You'll see the difference. Cheers !
